LISBON WOMAN ELECTROCUTED BY LIVE WIRELisbon, N. D., Aug. 30.—'Mrs. John W. Hayward, 45, wife of the proprietor of the Bradford hotel, Lisbon, was electrocuted yesterday when, standing in a bathtub of water, she grasped an electric light cord at a point where the insulation had been worn away. Her hand was badly burned, but there were no other marks on the body.Death was instantaneous,, according to the physician who was called.The body was found by her daughter at 1:45 p. m., about three-quarters of an hour after the accident occurred.Cord Hung Over TubThe electric light cord, which hangs directly over the tub, had been attached to an electric vibrator which Mrs. Hay word used for massage purposes. This was turned on an when Mrs. Hayward touched the worn spot on the cord, the water in which she-was standing, provided a contact and a short circuit resulted.Force Way RoomAlarmed at her mother’s long absence Mrs. Hay ward’s ’ daughter, Esther, a young woman of about 19, called Mrs. Hayward’s brother, an employe ofthe hotel, and the two forced their way into the bathroom where they found the lifeless body lying on the bottom of the tub.Husband Absent in CountryMr. Hayward was absent on an automobile trip into the country and returned home about five imutues after the body had been found.Besides her husband, Mrs. Hayward Is survived by two daughters, Esther, at home and Helen, a nurse at Mitchell, S. D., a sister, who lives in Wahpcton, and her brother. The sister florn Wahpeton arrived today.
