The plaintiff says that cfi«f about Uw 35th of December,. A. D., iwb she was the wife of William Shannon and re* sided with him at JLeCiatabi Iowa, that he was by trade a steamboat fireman on the Mississippi nver and received good wages, making, a comfort- -able support for plaintiff, aiid Iter family. She states that the defendant Wm, A. Davenport, 'kept and maintained a place or saloon atLeClaire, In which he sold intoxicating liquors, as. a beverage in violation of the law of Iowa, at which place iter husband commonly resorted for the purpose of buying and drinking intoxicating liquors; that on the 35th of December - the defendant sold her husband Intoxicating liquor, which' he drank and while he was intoxicated he became bewildered and went upon the ice then covering the Mississippi and fell into an air bole and drowned. The plaintiff state that by the wrong and unlawful acts of the defendant in selling intoxicating liquors to her busbaud, consequence of which was the loss of bis life-she has been injured in her means of support to the extent of SS.OOO for which asks judgment againt the defendant. The two other defeudantsare the owners of building.
