In 1976, Jones, Doienz, and Boyce and Hart went out on the road and re ceived rave reviews. Throughout the '70s there were numerous books and articles written on the Monkees, fueling the group's cult status.Davy Jones was born in Manchester, England. In his teens he began his role as The Artful Dodger in Oliver in London, then continued that role in New York and Chicago. After tele vision, movie, and album contracts, Jones touredthe world in 1970 as a solo artist and received rap turous receptions fromMonkees fans puoru-Francisco. He divides histime between currentMonkee projects and performing and writing his own music. He recently completed a sellout solotour of the northeasternstates, including a weekend at the Speakeasy in Greenwich Village where his show was sold out six weeks in advance.In 1986, The Monkees re formed to tour the United States, playing in nearly 100 cities.
