Letter To The EditorA LETTER FROM TEXASNews of the “resurrection of Marathon” has reached farther than the city limits. The efforts of the many folks involved in the process of making Marathon a more attractive and interesting town are to be praised. Marathon has a special place in my heart, although it has been 22 years since I have called it my home.I have kept “in touch” by letters from friends and relatives, the Marathon Republic, and an occasional visit to “ye ol’ town.”During the passing years many of the old store buildings have been torn down and only empty spaces remain. Now the efforts being made to restore or make even a more attractive town is heartwarming. As many know since leaving Marathon, I have made my home in Odessa, Texas, a small city of a little less than 100,000 rebels, situated in the west plains of Texas. We love our city of course, but there will always be a special feeling for “your” town.Again congratulations, and be proud!A Former Marathonile, Mrs. W. L. Erickson(Mrs. Erickson will be remembered as the former Mrs. Art Garton.)
