The Presbytery of Montana convened In Bozeman on Friday even.ng of last week, -%nd was opened with a sermon by Rev. J. R. Russell, of Deer Lodge. As Rev. W. L. Cook, of Missoula, had not returned from the Eastern States, be was much missed by the brethren.Mr. J. II. Taylor represented the Bozeman church as Elder, end Mr. Thornton Street represented the Lalt;.^iilton church.As the winter session i f the Presbytery is the time for the annual reports and statistics, there was very little business on hand.The brethren had a pleasant time talking aboitt their various fields of work, relating incidents of the past sit months, considering the spiritual needs of the Territory, and encouraging and strengthening one another.On Saturday morning Rev. L. B. Crittenden was chosen Moderator for the session. An application to the Home Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church, for akl for the coming year, was presented by the Bozeman church, and approved. A n urgent appeal was made that the ministers and elders should extend tlieir Influence and help, and look after the spiritual wdhts of the whole Territory, so much as time, strength and means would allow. A hasty survey soon convinced the brethren that it was impossible to have any regular, systematic work done outside, as the valleys are so large and the villages so numerous. and each has all that it is possible to do, at home.Nevertheless the Territory was. In part, divided off for the pastors and elders. Mr. Cook and his elder, at MIssoiiIa, were asked to extlt;nd a helping hand throughout the Bitter Root valley. Deer Lodge county was consigned to Mr. Russell. Lewis and Clarke, Choteau and Jefferson counties were consigned to Mr. Hewitt. Meagher county and Lower Gallatin to Mr. Crittenden, while the Upper Gallatin and Yellowstone valleys were committal U Mr. Richards and elder.There was a baptismal service on Saturday afternoon, when, in the presence of a little congregation, the sacrament of baptism was administered by the acting pastor to tour infhnt children. Saturday evening Rev. J. D. Hewitt preached. On the Sabbath a communion and baptismal service was conducted by Revs. L. B. Crittenden, J. D. Hewitt and the pastor. In the morning. Rev. J. R.
