Women arrested in kidnappingTwo women who allegedly helped kidnap two young children and their mother Saturday night were arrested Sunday, Colorado Springs police said.The mother, Karen Aguilera, 19, of 2921 N. Strauss Lane, and her two daughters, Theresa, 3, and Andrianna, 1, were found early Sunday unharmed, according to a police report.Arrested on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping were Sandra J. Evans, 21, 510 S. Cedar St., and Gaylea M. Sharp, 26, 831 Holmes Drive, jail officials said..The two women, along with two men, allegedly kidnapped Mrs. Aguilera and her children to try to force Mrs. Aguilera’s husband to pay $300 he allegedly owed them, the report said.According to the report, Michael Romero, Mrs. Aguilera’s brother, told police his brother-in-law called Saturday to ask him to check on the Aguilera children. Romero said he arrived at the 4U Motel, 1102 S. Nevada Ave., where Ms. Sharp was supposed to be watching the children, at 10:45 p.m. Saturday. He said he saw the girls being driven away in a strange car, the report said.Mrs. Aguilera arrived at the hotel a short time later and was met by Ms. Sharp, who demanded the money allegedly owed, the report said Mrs. Aguilera then was led from the hotel by the two women and two men, one of whom was holding a club, the report said.Before leaving, the club-brandishing suspect allegedly tolc Romero, “If you don’t get m« money, none of you people will ever see those kids again.”However, Mrs. Aguilera’s pa rents telephoned police at 12 OS a m. Sunday to say they found Mrs. Aguilera unharmed at her sister’s house, the report said. The girls were found 10 minutes later at the house of family acquaintances, Bob Taylor and Darlelyne Burns, who said the children had been dropped off by Ms. Sharp, the report said.Detective Sgt. Norm Short said the case would be brought before the district attorney’s office today. More arrests are expected, he said.The children are being kept ata Department of Social Servicesfoster home pending a hearing.
