THE DESERT HOT SPRINGS SENTINELTHURSDAY, AUGUST, 28, 1947The tiny figure 0f the Angel of Mt. San Jacinto hovers above one of the buildings of the Blue Heaven Rancho owned by Mrs. Viola Dinsmore. The Angel may be found at a point one fourth inch from the top margin of the photograph and three quarters of an inch from the left hand margin.Hot Mineral Water Adds Zest to Rest• Viola Di.nsm.ore, who owns the Blue Heaven Rancho at the end of Palm Drive, was one of the first well owners to utilize the natural hot mineral water for recreation as well as utility. Her Roman bath, set at mez zanine height beneath, the shade of giant tamarisk trees, is the first unit built in a series of pools Mrs. Dinsmore has planned. The others are to be built at progressively lower levels until the overflow from, the first cascades through each to feed the main swimming pool.Having the well drilled three years ago in January was a thrilling experience, Mrs. Dinsmore says. She had been assured by a geologist before she bought the property that she was in the middle of the hot water belt. Still, there is always margin for error and as the drill plunged deeper and deeper through the earth beneath the desert she watched it foot by foot in a state of great excitement. At last the water level was reached at a depth of 155 feet, but the water was not hot enough to suit her and the shaft was drilled deeper until water at 140 degrees was found.* Now her guests find relaxation and refreshment lounging in the sparkling soft, warm wafer of the Roman bath, and the excellent meals served at the Blue Heaven find enthusiastic diners. The whole informal, comfortable set - -up of Blue Heaven is tailored for the comfort of those who come to the desert to find peace and quiet and good health.Tramway Started Attempt to GetA determined attempt to get work started on the Mount San Jacinto Winter Park Tramway this year is being made according to Earl Coffman, president of the San Jacinto Winter Park Authority.Coffman said that Alden Roach, president of the Consolidated Steel Corporation, holders of the prime contract, is trying to complete agreements with sub - contractors both on the coast and elsewhere in the country. The aerial lift which is to be located in Chino Canyon, north of Palm Springs, will make a thrilling 6000 foot climb in just 12 minutes, the cable car crossing chasms and climbing cliffs that afford breathtaking views of California's grandest scenery. The thrill of them all will be the climactic crossing of the canyon’s 500-foot depth. It is expected that San Jacinto Winter Park will attract visitors not only during the months of winter sports, but also in the summer when tourists seek the mountains to avoid the beat.Any increased traffic into the desert cannot hut serve to prosper every nearby community. With much to offer the desert lover, Desert Hot Springs will make its bid for the attention of tourists, and judging from the past, will draw and hold its fair share of the pleasure seekers. The $3,000,000 project should V:ng an added prosperity to Desert Hot Springs, providing work for local laborers and living quarters for outsiders employed on the tramway.CASA REPOSADA110 W.
