MR. WILLIAM CHAMBERS PASSED AWAY SUNDAYAnother of the Few Remaining Con-federate Veterans In Baldwin County Dies At The Age of Seventy Years At Home Near Hopewell.Baldwin county has lost another of tne few remaining veterans of the civil war. in the death of Mr. WillLira Chambers, who died at his home near Hopewell church at the early hour of i. o clock Sunday morning.Mr. Chambers was 70 years of«age and had always been a highly prized citizen of this county since his return here following the conclusion of the Civil war. He was the father of a large family and with one exception his children are all residents of Baldwin county.Air Chambers Jiad been in failing health tor several years, having suf-fer id a stroke of paralysis about eight years ago. frcm which he never fully recovered. About a week ago he ex perlenced a second attack and he continued to grow weaker from the shock until his death.Those surviving Mr. Chambers are his widow, three daughters. Mrs. J. S. McQ..liar. Mrs. Wesley Bloodworth. Mth. W. c. Evans; four sons. Messrs. Jim Chambers. Ilambaut Chambers, Thomas Chambers, all of Baldwin county, and William Chambers, cf Jones county.The funeral of the deceased took place Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. Z. Speer conducting the sad occasion. Interment took place in the Sand Hill cemetery, near Hopewell Church.
