Stale Fair to Have a Sensational At traction and One Tltat Is Entirely 1 nllt;|ue.Louisville, Aug. 17.—A head-on-col-lision on a railroad has always had its I horrors for the public, when each engine was pulling a train of well-filled passenger coaches or sleepers, and the loss of life was appalling, but such a catastrophe, when attended by no details of such a sickening character, the locomotive alone coining together, lolds a certain fascination for the onlooker. With a full realization of this fact the Kentucky State Fair Association has closed a contract for a head-on collision of the engines during the approaching exhibition, and two steam monsters will come together with a 40 mile an hour crash. When a promoter of amusements offered to “put on” a collision of two steel kings of the rail at the Texas State Fair, and give it all the realism that surrounds a railroad wreck there were those who were ready to pronounce the scheme a fake and the schemer an adventurer. But the collision came off on schedule time and the echo of the crash met a welling chorus of yells from the thousands of leople who witnessed the unique performance. Since then, other State fairs—Indiana and Iowa among them -have had such an attraction but this first Kentuckians rfll have been given an opportunity to see.
