Locust Grove Democratic Asso ciation, Adamsville, Miss., August 17, 1844. The Locust Grove Democratic Associa tion met at Adamsville according to ad journment, and after the preliminary busi ness was gone through, the following reso lutions were offered by Dr. Geo. W. Rich ardson and unanimously adopted. Resolved, That while Henry Clay persists in fastening upon the people of these United States a Fifty Million Bank, with Branches in all the States, we cannot vote for him or countenance his abetters. Resolved, That because Henry Clay enter ed into a base “Bargain Intrigue” with J. Q. Adams, by which the latter became Pres ident of these United States and the former Secretary of State, whereby our own Jack son was robbed and excluded, though the choice of the people, we will never give him our suffrages. Resolved, That because Henry Clay is op en to the graduation of the price of the Public Lands, opposed to the entire present mode for their disposal and denouncing the hardy Pioneers of the West a “lawless rab ble,” we consider that his talents as a States man has been vastly overrated. Resolved, That we will use all laudable means to prevent the election of Henry Clay and promoting that of James K. Park, and that among many weighty reasons for so doing, we subdjain the following, viz. 1. That wherever a man is found who scoffs at popular rights, ridicules the idea of popular elections and advocates a Property Qualification for office, he is in favor of Clay. 2. That wherever an Abolitionist is found he is a strong Clay man. 3. That whenever you find a man oppo sed to a Tariff for Revenue and in favor of a Tariff for Protection and advocating high duties, he is in favor of Clay. 4. That any and every man willing or anxious to lay sacrilegous hands upon our time-honored Constitution is opposed to the election of James K. Porn. 5. That wherever a man is found opposed to the Re-Annexation of Texas to the Uni ted States, he is in favor of Henry Clay. 6. That wherever you find a man either a Duelist or a Gambler, he is in favor of Clay all the time. On motion, it was Resolved, That the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to the Holly Springs ‘Guard,’ for publication. A. PETTY, Ch'n
