Sons of American Revolution celebrate 25 yearsStaff ReportsThe Sons of the American Revolution's Little River Chapter celebrated 25 years Monday night.The program was held in the DeSoto State Park Lodge in the room where the group was first chartered in January 1989.The evening began with opening remarks from Chapter President Buddy Holt, followed by invocation by Chaplain Jimmy Mayfield, a pledge to the American flag by Vice President J.L. Gibson and the pledge to the SAR, led by Secretary Ron Bearden.Master of Ceremonies RodHildreth gave a history of the Little River Chapter, of which he is a charter member, following a buffet-style meal.Lee Swart gave several awards and decorations at the meeting.ALSSAR State President Bobby Joe Seales was also present for the meeting.Heather Buckner | Tmres-JournalRod Hildreth speaks to the Little River Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
