LOS ANGELES (AP) — It is possi ble the so-called ‘Night Stalker’’ snatched four children, molested them and left them to wander along’ streets close to freeways, authorities said Monday. Three of the youngsters were ab ducted from their beds as they slept, while the other was taken from a schoolyard. ‘We are examining it carefully and, continuing to do so to see if there is a connection,’ Los Angeles police Cmdr. William Booth said of a March 20 kidnapping in the Eagle Rock area, five miles north of Los Angeles. Asked if the child’s description of her assailant matched that of the Night Stalker, also known as the “Valley Intruder’ and the ‘Walk-In Invader.’’ Booth replied, ‘‘The description is close enough.” The 8-year-old girl was kidnapped from her bed as her parents slept in the same house, authorities said. Last month, Detective Louis Castillo said investigators believed the same man who kidnapped her also broke into an Arcadia residence on June 27, took a 6-year-old girl from her bed and molested her. Two other kidnapping-molestation cases, a 6-year-old girl in Montebello and 9-year-old boy in Monterey Park, may also be related to the Night Stalker, police in those cities said. In two of the four kidnapping cases, the molester entered his victims’ homes late at night by prying open a window or entering through an unlocked door, police said. In the March 11 Monterey Park case, the family’s home was ran sacked and the 9-year-old’s younger brother was left unharmed, police Detective Thom Nagasaki said last month. In the Feb. 25 Montebello case, the victim was taken from a bench on an elementary school campus, molested, and abandoned about two hours later near the Santa Monica Freeway, Detective Dan Hibbard said.
