Kay Telfer was the major winner in women’s golf play Wednesday at the BVCC. She scored a near sweep in the Championship Class with a 43 gross, 33 net, and shared low putts with Fran Duncan (13). Her gross and net were field lows, the putts a three-way field low. Kay had birdies on 1 5, sinking an approach shot for the latter. Carolyn Eickmeier won the Special Event of the day. In Class A, Dorothy Philbrook and Ferne Hahn shared low gross (50). DOROTHY won low net (36), and Ferne had low putts (13), sharing field honors. Jean Wiese won the Special Event of the day. ‘‘Bunnie’’ Schultz and Evelyn Farley shared low gross in Class B (53). The same twosome shared low net (37's), and Evelyn won low putts (15). Marge Brawner was the Special Event winner. Barbara LaVelle had low gross in Class C (59). Gladys Josephson won low net (40), and shared low putts (16) with Doris Leonard. Gladys also won the Special event. A total of 36 golfers participated. Committee for the month of September will be Ferne Hahn, Vi Strunk, June Hult, and Helen Thorp. Regular golf will be played. The closing dinner and awards night for the women will be Wednesday, Sept. 23.
