JONES COUNTY BOY TO SHOW JERSEYS i IN E. TEXAS FAIRShowing prize winning stock is getting to be a habit with Elton Brigham of Tuxedo who win represent Jones county in the third annual Texas State Jersey Show and Sale which is to be held September 13 to 18 as a part of the East Texas Fair at Tyler.Brigham will show four registered Jersey heifers, the most promising of which is a yearling from the herd of Herman Heep, president of the American Jersey Cat-! tie Club. Others to be entered include the daughter of a grand champion cow he showed at the State Fair in 1946, the daughter of a sister of the 1946 grand champion cow in 1946 and a heifer out of the Knolle herd.Starting in 1942 with a- Searspig, Brigham has developed into an all around 4-H club demon-strater and now has eight head of registered Jerseys, 5 beef steers on feed and has a 100-acre crop this year. He planted his ground to wheat and grain sorghum.His winnings so far include grand champion Jersey cow, junior division, State Fair, 1946; grand champion Aberdeen Angus, junior division, State Fair, 1947; and a number of county and district show championships in fat steer classes and Jerseys.Young Brigham was* high point man in the State Dairy Judging contest for 4-H and FFA boys last year and was given a free trip to Columbus, Ohio to judge in the national judging show. He was one of four boys from Texas selected for the trip and his team placed seventh in cooperation with teams fro mevery state in the union* # -
