Plenty of good rains now which is just what we want and need, Otto Price went to town Saturday to be examined for a pension claim, John Lucas Baker and Grant Mills returned home Sunday from Bar bourville where they have been sit ting on jury. Mrs. Victor Hammons and her young teacher brother, Bert Smith, the former being teacher at Jackson school and the latter at Hinkle Branch, had their schools meet to gether for a ball game and spelling match. The spelling match closed with the victory for H. B. 8. Then came the hot August ball game the score being 25 to 7 in favor of the same school. Young teacher Smith says “As is the teacher, so is the school.” Raw! Mr. and Mrs. Tom J. Hale, of Payne's Creek moved to Mill Branch last week. Thomas Carne sold a mule for $300.00—some | \-e! James Hinkle, of Paynes Creek, went to town last week to get a ret inary for his fine rule which is sick, Mrs. McKinley Gray is very low at this writing but is apparently im proving at this writing. Thomas Savage, who has heart trouble, is very sick, Otto Price visited Perry Garland Sunday. Mrs. Alice Smith, of Barbourville recently visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Townsley.
