band died in 1901.CARRIeI) high inAIRJSY BALLOON.Sparta Boy Dragged by Heels 200 Feet Above Ground—Alightsin Safety.Sparta, Wis., Aug. 19.—[Special.] — Carried by the heels 200 feet into the air by ail ascending balloon was the experience of a Sparta boy and the closing incident of the biggest day of the Sparta fair. The boy came to earth uninjured and afterward told the aeronaut that he would make the trip with him again.Oscar Frederick, 14 years of age, became entangled in the ropes and when the balloon was cut loose the boy was carried up feet first, screaming for help. After the parachute had risen 200 feet into the air, Henry opened the valves of the balloon and came gently to earth, alighting in an open field.Fergus Falls, Minn., Aug. 19.—Jacob Huffman, an aeronaut, was drowned in Lake Alice last evening. He had made a balloon ascension and on coming down in a parachute fell in the middle of the lake. Hundreds of people witnessed the accident.
