eCircuit Court Proceedings.Tbe first work of the Circuit Court came to a close with the trial of the state against Jeff Harvell charged with the killing of Newt Ford, sear Saltillo, in October last. It will be recalled that Ford was shot from ambush while driv-ing aloDg a country road Dear his home. On account of a preyious difficulty suspicion peinted to Har-vell as the guilty party. As there were no eye witnesses, the state had to depend entirely on circum-stanoial evidence, the theory of the'state being ably brought ont by Hon. Zach Ladnrum of Lowndes, District Attorney, assisted by Anderson and Long. Guy Mitchell appeared for tbe defense and ably combatted every inch of ground.His speech was able and eloquent and the failure of tbe jury lo agree was net a surprise. This noted case will now go over until the February term.
