Rites today for Harold Essick, 67;^ ^ burial tp be here-fhe LAUren*? 5a wFuneral services for Harold C. Essick, 67, a former resident of Laurens will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church at Manson.Burial will be at the. Laurens Cemetery with graveside services.Mr. Essick died Monday noon at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient seven weeks. He had suffered a stroke prior to going to the hospital.Mr. Essick was born Dec. 26, 1898, at Carlisle, and attended school at Marathon. In 1918 he married Mabel Johnson, and they fanned near Laurens and Pocahontas. In 1950 they moved to Manson where he worked for the town for 15 years.They were the parents of three children. A daughter, Jeanette, died in 1944. His parents and a brother and sister also preceded him in death.Survivors include this wife; two sons, Donald of Laurens and Robert of Webb; six grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lois Moehler, Pacifica, Calif.; Mrs. Iris Johnson, Fonda; Mrs. Thelma Quail, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Gyle Leak, West Des Moines; Russell Essick, Chicago, 111.; Vern Essick, Nocatee, Fla.; Wayne Essick, Thonatosasca, Fla.; and Leo Essick, Webb.
