Mrs. John Viarengo Given Surprise Farewell Party by Emblem Club So completely off guard as far as anticipation of any party for herself, Mrs. John Viarengo, who leaves soon for a new home in Auburn, welcomed fellow mem bers of Emblem Club in a house coat. Wednesday night, when they walked into her home for a fare well suprise party. Credit for careful timing of the surprise was given Mrs. Claire Anderson, who made an appoint ment earlier in the week for a call at the Viarengo home, to discuss Emblem Club affairs ahead of Mrs. Viarengo's leavetaking. It was a farewell handkerchief shower which the young matrons arranged for their departing member, the dainty squares pinned to a tiny parasol for authentic shower effect. A huge sheet cake, specially decorated, carried the inscription “Best Wishes, Kay, as a farewell vesture from the club members, who brought along other party refreshments to make the evening an enjoyable one. Among those attending the sur prise farewell shower were the Mesdames Dom Crinella, Peter Sunseri, Harry Wilson, Joe Mos chetti, Joe Hinneman of Upper Lake, Lee Richardson, George Luttge, Ray Williams, Felix Thorn hill, Roy Hurt, Reno Bartolomie, Laura Stanford, George Flickman, and Claire Anderson. Mrs. Bartolomie is president of the club, and Mrs. Viarengo is a past president. One hundred feet of new beach was created at San Francisco's Aquatic Park, out of sand and gravel excavated from Union Square in 1941.
