PROPORTION OF JEWS IN THE PROFESSIONS IN HUNGARY Budapest (J. T. A.)—During his vindictive speech in the Hungarian Parliament calling for an extension of the numerous clausus in Hungary (restrictions on percentage of Jewish students) to the whole of the educational system in the country, and also to all occupations and professions, Deputy Goemboes, head of the Union of Awakening Magyars, and presi-d;nt of the Government Party, gave a series of figures alleging them to state the proportion of Jews in the various professions and occupations in the country. There were, he said, 49 per cent of Jewish doctors of medicine, 43 per cent journalists, 33 per cent opera and concert singers, 20 per cent apothecaries, 20 per cent musicians and sculptors, 17 per cent actors, 4 per cent teachers, 56 per cent merchants, 57 per cent publishers, 21 per cent tailors, 29 per cent shoemakers, 4 per cent millers, .06 per cent peasants, 1 per cent agricultural
