Volleyball team triumphs again The Plymouth Volleyball Team participated July 18 at the Jansen Fun Day volleyball tournament. A first-place team trophy was awarded to the Plymouth team, second place was Brunswick Tav ern of Fairbury. Plymouth team members were Stan and Mary Hueske, Sandy Freese, Arlan Ket telhake, and Lonnie and Cindy Weichel. Returns to faculty of St. Paul’s Students at St. Paul Parochial School in Plymouth have full days of study beginning at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. Janice (Mrs. Arlin) Spilker joined the St. Paul staff again as teacher for kindergarten and first grade, working half days. Mrs. Spilker taught at St. Paul pre viously from 1967 to 1969, fol lowing her first teaching experi ence at Grace Lutheran School at St. Joseph, Mich. She has also worked with Headstart, has done substitute teaching in the area and most recently was the teacher with Rainbow World in Beatrice. Janice has two children: Brian, a sophomore at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln Ag College studying pre veterinary science, who is also a member of the Army National Guard; and Sonya, a 1990 gradu ate of Tri County. Sonya will be gin studies in commercial art at the Universal Technical Institute next month. Teacher installation was during the Sunday morning service. The choir sang a favorite song of ‘Mrs. Spilker’s entitled, “Feed My Lambs,” accompanied by Angie Zulauf and Jennifer Frank. Marge Schmidt returns as the teacher for Grades 1-4 and Princi pal Scott Sievert will again teach Grades 5-8. For the first time, the school offers a fluoride rinse treatment for the students. TOPS Clubs meet Five members of TOPS #NE495 were present for the Tuesday morning, Aug. 14, meeting. It was a “no gain” week for the group. Dorothy was best KOPS loser of the week. Contests were brought up to date. TOPS #NE495 won the baseball contest between the two Plymouth clubs. For the topic, Dorothy read an article from the Thin Book entitled, “How to Jump Off a Weight Plateau.” TOPS #NE901 held their regu lar evening meeting Aug. 8 in the Fire Hall TOPS charms were or dered for the club,members. June presented the program, “Leaving Fats Out of Your Cook- The TOPS area meeting is to be Oct. 1 in Wilber at the American Legion Club. Kylie Hays celebrates fifth Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hays. Holly and Bethany hosted a birthday party for Kylie’s fifth birthday. Places visited were the Robidoux Row home built by Joseph Robidoux in 1850) the Kemper town home built in 1881, the Doll Museum and the Museum of Jesse James and the home in which James was murdered. Dinner was at Serre Anne Cafeteria, which had celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 2. Many relatives gathered for the Krauters reunion Sunday at the Fairbury Girl Scout Cabin at the Fairbury City Park. Among them were Mr. and,Mrs. Elmer Hollman of Wilber, Verna Brakhage and Mr., and Mrs. Frank Molzer. A cousin, Lorine Ledbetter, traveled from California to attend. Judy Moeler and Gary and Teresa Moeller traveled to Yellow stone National Park last week and on to Wheatland, Wyo., to spend time with Judy’s brother, Don Cline. Alice Schroeder accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schwab to Lincoln last Thursday to visit Velma Drewes and Lila Schwab at the Madonna Care Center. Lila was receiving therapy after back surgery, but was recuperating satisfactorily and planning on an early dismissal.
