] MEADLIGHT, AUGUST 14, 1977 rFollowing are brief ‘descriptions of nine of the new teachers in Deming Public Schools. More new teachers will be pictured in later ‘editions. .. ;Nancy Tressler is the new girls' physical education teacher at Deming High School. She is married, with no children. She will coach girls’ tennis and will be the Girls’ ‘Athletic Assn. sponsor. Holding a bachelor’s degree from Western New Mexico University in Silver City, she has taught one year in El Paso. She holds a national rating in officiating girls’ sports. Patrick Seltzer will teach kindergarten at Columbus Elementary School. He is married, with two children. He has earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Hartford, Conn. He has taught three years, two as a Teacher Corps’ intern. Seltzer lived in Mexico and speaks, reads and writes Spanish. In 1971-72, he taught in Shawmut, Mont. Lana Hassman will teach third grade at Smith School. She has one child. Her husband farms south of Deming. She is a DHS graduate and holds a bachelor’s degree from WN MU. Her student teaching was done at Chaparral School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Offutt of Deming. Mrs. Tommie C. Lewis will teach English at DHS. She is married. She has a B.S. Degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She has no previous teaching experience. Elizabeth (Liza) Gray will teach math at DHS. A native of Deming, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seldon Baker. She is married to Rayburn Gray, who works at Kennecott Copper Corp., and has two children. She received a B.A. Degree in May from WNMU. She eared many academic honors in high school and college. Mrs. Claudia Jeffreys will teach English at DHS. Married to another Demingue, Gary Jeffreys, she is a DHS graduate. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Leyendecker. She holds a B.S.E. Degree from the University of Arkansas, and has taught the past three years at Harrison Junior High School in Albuquerque. Mrs. Barbara Johnson will teach English at Deming Junior High School. She is married and has three children. She has no previous teaching experience, having received a 8.5, Degree in December 1 971 from West Texas State University at Canyon.
