_; “HEART” TAG SAUEHERE SATURDAYOf interest to the citizens of this community is the publicity “Hjeart” sale to be held here on Saturday next in behalf of the Wisconsin, division of the Volunteers of America. This annual affair has the approval of the Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by Dr. E. L. Schro.eder, mayor, Mrs. Frank Schweers, Mrs. Anna Nagel, Rev. G. G. Gee, Mrs. M. J. Wall-rich and Rev. and Mrs. H Lane. Headquarters for the day will be at the Hotel Murdock, with the Misses Dorothy and Rachael Nommenstaa in charge of the finances and the young workers.Founded in 1896 by Gen. and Mrs, Ballington Booth as a religious and philanthropic organization, it recognizes no distinctions of race, color or creed. “Helping others to help them-sjaiv.es” is the slogan which may well be applied to the Volunteers of America, for on this principle the many branches of benevolent work have been, established. All that is pauperizing has be.en avoided and the restoration of self respect and self maintenance has been their objective.Home for aged couple, emergency homes for women, for homeless children, day nurseries, “Hope Halls” where men newly released from prison are guided and sheltered by the Volunteer Prison league, summer camps for under-privileged children— these are all maintained by the organization.As is customary, young peopie have been invited to sell “Hearts” and it is the hope that everyone will feel that whatever they give will help to make better men and women of the “children of today” who are in care of the organization.
