Judson Blakeley, of Corry, Partici pated in Event Narrated The Buffalo News of August 4th relates In its Civil War ecclism an incident wherein a Corry man play ed an important part, but who is not mentioned, probably because the writer of the article did not know the cirermptances. ‘This article deals with the death of Colonel Cameron, a brother of Siimon Cameron of Pennsylvania, and Lineuln's first Secretary of War, who was Colonel of the 79th High landers,N.¥) and his death, and the final recovery of his body. After the front lines had been changed so that the Federals oc cupied Hieald Manassis, Bulrun) battle field an expedition was sent out from Washington to disinter the body of Colonel Cameron and bring it to Washington. This ex pedition tug the power to take soldiers on the fell wherever It found them convenient, to assist In the undertaking, and Gonade Jud~ son Blakeley, a member of Post 70, of this city, then of the 2ard N.Y. Vols, was one of the men detail ed by this commission to assist. Comrade Blakley, with half of an old saw found of a nearby house, and an old ax, built the coffin, and help~ ed take the body and place It In the rude coffin for removal.
