JThe Union County Snmiuy School Convention mot at New Hope Church Wednesday, August 7, and was C“V“ order by the President, W, T. Thomson. The devotional cx * ercises were conducted by Rev. T. E. Morris by the renting of the 12th chapter of Romans, beginning with (lie tith verso. W, Gregory proceeded to discuss The duties of teachers,'' lie was followed by W. T. Thomson and R. T. Gee on the same subjet. Maps were exhibited by Township Superintendents T. M. Littlejohn, W. 1L Gossct, and 8. M- Rico Hr., showing the progress of their work in locating Sunday Schools in their respective town * ships. On motion of J. W Gregory it was ordered that the township superintendents he instructed to make and exhibit such maps of their respective townships at the next meeting of this convention as will give a correct idea of the progress of clearing ay the darkness now hanging over many portions of their respective townships. After discussion it was tabled.The treasurer, T. M. Littlejohn, reported that the collection so far was inadequate to meet the expenses of the convention un i pay olf the county's pledge, $5.00 to the State convention, which was $15.00* $4.00 of which had been paid. On motion it was agreed that a committee of six young ladies be appointed to wait upon the congregation; and solicit cjutrihutions to pay otf the debt oud that they have until I lie afternoon evasion to make their reports*On motion it was agreed that the deleguf-of the different denominations meet during recess and select their candidate for the State Sunday School convention next year. Session thou adjourned with benediction by 11. VV. Lttlejohu.The cdlectiou Committee of young ladies reported the amount, raised by Ilium was sufficient to pay off the claims against the convention.Invitations were extended front Elbrthel and Upper Fair Forest schools for the convention to meet with them next year,U.S. Gruer offered the fullowiog resolution which was unanimously adopted.Kc.soi.vki, That the thanks of this convention be tendered the pcopo of New IJcpc for their kind invitation to meet and hold our convention with them, and also for the hospitable manner in which they have entertained the members and friends of this convention during this session; and also to Prof. A.
