THURSDAY; AUGUST 22,1929TOURIST GUIDE StFOR EL PASOPercy Montgomery Issuing New Monthly BookletSo that tourists need no longer wonder what there is to see in this section, where to go and how to get there, Percy Montgomery has issued the El Paso’s Tourists’ Guide. Merchants who have long felt the need of such a medium are backing the publication which is to be issued monthly, Montgomery said. The initial August issue is out. Thirty-five hundred copies were ordered on the first printing. Montgomery anticipates the circulation will be between 10,000 and 15,000 for the next early issues.The booklet is free. Copies will be on the writing desks in the city’s seven leading hotels and at Camp Grande. They will be in the taxicabs of the City Service Co. Starters at Hotel Hussmann and Hotel Paso del Norte will pass the booklets out.There is a picture of Mayor R. E.m-,the visitor “to the city that faith built” is printed. Gen. George Van Horn Moseley’s interest in the publication prompted him to send Montgomery a Fort Bliss army schedule from Honolulu.Contents relate to airports, airplane and train schedules, Chamber of Commerce, churches, sightseeing trips, clubs, Fort Bliss, drives, facts of interest, city’s history, mail closings, public utilities, roads, Juarez, upper valley and notes on timely events of importance. There is a map of the city.The booklet is illustrated, including street scenes of El Paso in 1870 and 1880, modern El Paso, pictures of cotton fields, missions in this territory, churches, schools and many others.
