PATENT ORE ROASTER. then undersigned, patentee of this valuable im provement in the manufacture of Iron. respect fully informs the public that he has made arrange ments to furnish to Furnaces and others, the Patent Ore Roaster. It has been in successful operation at Raccoon, Steam, and Buffalo Furnaces in Greenup county,Ky. The great advantages which this im provement presents is not only a saving of at least 26 to 43 percent in coal, but a great improvement in the quality of the iron, as well as the work of the Furnace. I subjoin the following certificates from Furnaces above named Kentucky Stream Furnace, June 14, 1860. This is to certify that we have been using on a new hearth for about 20 days, A.C. Van Dyke’s Patent Ore Tleater, and have been using very seldom over seven roads (200 bushels) coal, and have been making regularly from 10 to 1' tons of better ron than we have ever made heretofore, I am_ well - satisfied that it has improved the quality of our Iron and think it an excellent filling process and a saving in charcoal. Respectfully, J.S. JONES, for Wurts, Spalding Co. I certify that we have used Van Dyke's Patent Ore Heater and find it to be a great saving of fuel.— From the same ore we formerly used 22 bushels of coal to the charge and carried about 750 Ibs of ore.— Since we have put up the Heater we have carried as much as 1060 Ibs on 18 bushel or that is what we have estimated it at. In putting up the Ore Heater we had to change our fat wagon so as to take off one bushel of coal. For 1st 30 days blowing time we used 1756.7 bushels per ton, including heating up Furnace, getting up steam 3 times, five barrels, and our estimate from beds that gauge 203 bushel, 1 5 ad ded for the heap. We cheerfully recommend it as great saving of fuel and al o think it is a great im rovement in the regular working of the Furnace. accoon Maniner, BARR, McGREW CO. Greenup co., Ky. Wm. N.
