SurovikLodge Svetlo No. 277 C.S.A. was organized on April 24, 1885, in Burleson County, in the New Tabor community asLodge Svetlo No. 120 CSPSCsko Slovanske Podperica Spolky.On December 11, 1887, anagreement between ReadingClub Moravence and Lodge Svetlo No. 120 was incorporated as one property for$175.00. At that time ClubMorvance owned 1 acre of land which was purchased on December 8, 1883, for the sum of $10.00 from Thomas and Anna Elsik and signed by a committee for Morvance Club, Frantish Haisler, Frantz Jurcak, and Paul Skrabanek,Lodge Svetlo Committee; Englebert Pollack, Thomas Krajca, and Peter Mikeska. OnMay 25, 1904, CSPS 120 sold 1/2 share to SPJST Lodge No. 17 for $300.00. This was signed by CSPS ThomasKraitchar, Sr., - president, Frank Kallac - secretary,SPJST George Mrnustik -pres., Frank Kallac, Sec.On September 19, 1924, CSPS and SPJST purchased 2acres from J.N. Vavra for $200.00. This was signed by George Mrnustik - president, Svetlo 120, PJ. Trcalek - president, SPJST - 17.In May 1933, CSPS was changed to Lodge Svetlo 277 CSA Czechoslovak Society ofAmerica. In 1990, it became SCA Fraternal Life. CSA is the oldest Czech insurance in the USA. We are the mother ofSPJST.Lodge Svetlo was always the grand lodge of Texas. In 1954, the hall was rebuilt. Also, in 1954, a 100 years' celebration was held on June 20, with James V. Krakora, secretary of the Supreme Lodge as guest speaker. In 1955, the hall was destroyed by fire and all records were destroyed. In1956, a new hall, 40 x60', was built. In 1956, Frank M.Surovik was the first field underwriter under contract. In 1962, Frank M. Surovik was the first delegate to attend the convention in Chicago.
