S. Ambassador to Luxembourg Patricia Roberts Harris, who is a member of the sorority: Secretary of President Johnson’s Council On Equal Opportunity: Theodore M. Berrv, Director of the Communitv Action Program of the Office of Economic Onnortunity. and Congresswoman EdithC.reen of Oregon, who is an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta.Dr. Geraldine P. Woods of T ns Angeles NaDonal President announced that the Sorority willnroc'mt p musical-dramatic pre-dnrfion for Delta members and their friends on Sundav evening. August 15 at the Scottish RiteMasonic Temple in Los Angeles. The program will include a tribute to Dr. William Grant still, one of America’s leading composers. on his 70th birthday. A dramatic presentation. “Eagle In The Air,” commissioned by the Women’s group for its convention, will be included in the program. Written and directed by Luther James, it will be a fusion of dance, poetry and music, telling the story of the Negro from slavery to the present day.The Mary Church Terrill award, presented annually to a woman who has “served the cause of freedom and the fight for human dignity above and beyond the call of duty” will also he presented at the Sunday night program. Mrs'. Constance Baker Motley. Associated Counsel of the NAACP, received the award last voar for her work in fighting fur Equalitv in the courts. It will be leaded with youngboys and girls participating in the organization's annual “Teen - Lift.” Each summer, a group of culturally deprived high school students from rural areasin the deep south are selectedas “Delta Teen Lifters.” Thev are taken crosscountry to visit educational and cultural institutions, business and manufacturing companies, and other points of interest. This exposes them to the new' careers available to Negro youth. Tim summer program has motivated many youngsters to continue on to college.Miss Allene J.
