ISiPROVEDJames Martina, Manager, Invests in New Sound Equipment and in Light ing System For Benefit of Motion Picture Patrons.Jlodern improvements 1 recently de at the Star Theatre have met with the hearty approval of the patrons. This is indicated by the increase in attendance during the week and more particularly during the week ends since the improvements were made.Under the efficient and able management of James Martina the 8tar Theatre has undergone improvements for the pleasure, convenience and comfort of its patrons.JAMES MARTINAMr. Martina, ever alert to the trend of the times, was one of the first managers in this region to install talking pictures in his theatre And now, with newer and more modern improvements made in movie projection, the Star Theatre has in operation the newest and best obtainable in sound projection, the R. C. A. Photophone System, which is nearly as radical a change as the talking pictures were from the silent cinema. The new equipment'at the Star consists of a new projector and a much larger sound screen at the front of the stage. Perfect synchronization is made by sound being reflected from the screen, recorded on the edge of the film in place of the old phonograph disc method. This sound system plus a new indirect lighting system of a subdued colored lighting effect, adds materially to the enjoyment of the talking pictures. No matter how good the equipment or modern it may be, it requires an efficient operator to give a perfect projection. The 8tar has an efficient and experienced operator in the person of George P. Reckten-wald, who has charge of the projection room and cars of the projection apparatus. Mr. Recktenwald is a class A operator and a member of the United States and Canada Operators’ Union. In addition to having the best in equipment, Mr. Martina will strive, as in the past, to produce only the best in cinema. This is evident by the forecoming plays to be run at the Star in the near future. When there is usually a dearth of good drama at this season, the Star has booked the following excellent and entertaining pictures:Friday and Saturday the presentation will be Buck Jones in “Men Without Law.” On Sunday and Monday, Adolphe Menjou will be seen in “The Great lover.'’ Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be shown Marie Dressier and Polly Moran in “Politics.’’The management will strive to procure the best in motion picture jproduction as they are released.
