The Bicycle Meeting. The first bicycle meet was held at Grand Junction on Thursday afternoon, under the auspices of the bicycle Athletic Association, on the new bicycle track. It was a very successful and enjoyable meeting, drawing out a large crowd of spectators to witness the sport. The one mile novice race, was won by Jas. Quigg of Aspen, in 2:42. Prize, silver medal. The one half mile open race, was won by Mack Lewis of Gunnison, in 1:45, Prize silver cigar case. The boys one-half mile race, by Clyde Simpson in 1:25. Prize 86 watch. One mile, open, race was won by W. G. Struthers; time 2:58. Prize, gold watch, 830. Geo. W. Garrison of Aspen took 2nd—a pair of shoes. One-fourth mile, open, was won by Mack Lewis, of Gunnison; time, 35 seconds. Prize easy chair, $10. The five mile handicap race tested the strength and endurance to a high degree. George Garrison and James Quigg of Aspen entered, Quigg was given 300 yards start and beat his opponent one half mile, time 13:49. Prize, a 812 suit of clothes. Another meeting will be held during Peach week.—News.
