Clayton, Aug. 18.—Sunday sixty-fiveof Utica’s Germans styling themselves the Lime Kiln Club paid the River and Islands a visit. They were a happy and jolly crowd all talking at once.Jojm Rector, an aged citizen and one of the first settlers in the village, died yesterday.L. G. Hopkins, of Leavenworth. Kan.,has just launched a new steamer to take the place of the old one, and named her the “ Rambler.’’ The work was done by Mr. Mercier of this place, and shows many good points of workmanship.The steamer Ontario is now making two regular trips a week between Alexandria Bay and Charlotte with seemingly paying loads every trip.The steamer Armstrong made Clayton a visit Tuesday with 800 excursionists on board. The Presbyterian society of Og-densburg managed the affair and to allappearance made a paying trip out of it.
