you’ve got it made, if you don’t have class, no matter what else you have, it doesnt make any difference.Dave Connell Laguna BeachFESTIVAL SHOULD EXPLORE RELOCATIONMy credentials for continuing to mount the podium to speak out on Laguna Beach extorting fat from the Festival of Arts include having been the most visionary and idealistic of the founders of the Sawdust Festival. I’ve literally watched its evolution. As to the Festival of Arts, its problems over the years were to me as the rumblings of distant thunder. I had once been an exhibitor at the Festival of Arts from 1959 to 1964. My perception changed with news of that half million bucks a year the Festival of Arts has to pony up to the city. That image of the Festival of Arts which I had been conceiving of a matronly fuss budget ruling the roost in her bowl, changed abruptly. Why should the Sawdust Festival not explore a joint venture with the Festival of Arts to meld resources, and investigate all possibilities of relocating together in a nearby city? A combined show can be easily and successfully mounted with a bi-sectional, juried and unjuried structure.the Festival of Arts is almost |homeless, despite its immense 1prestige.One presumes that discreet t€communications are already C(under way between the Festival °jof Arts Board of Directors and Slsurrounding cities, as would be properly expected of responsible leadership. The Sawdust Festi- ^ val should join in these considerations if they are occurring.
