History OfTodaTown CreekHome ABaptist ChurchMans (By NONA WISE RENEWThe history of Town Creek Baptist Church goes back some one hundred years when Mr. Henry Ford gave a tract of land to erect a church This land was located in the Edgefield district in the Edisto Association. The church is located about one half mile off the Old Tory Trail now known as the Pine Log Road First there was a ‘ Brush Arbor” where services were held then a one room log cabin was built and was used for both school and church.A few vears later the lob cabinwburned after which Mr. Tom Craig gave some money and lumber and with the help of some other men rebuilt a one room building It had two front doors and was used as a church. These two doors had a purpose to serve; the men entered on the right and sat together and the women entered on the left and sat together. This church building was organized and constituted in 1865 and was given the name of “Town Creek” for the small spring which forms a creek at the back of the church When the “Lord's Supper was served a large round goblet with a flat bottom like the Holv Grail was filled with wine. It was first passed among the men to take a sip and thenamong the women.
