KORESHAN UNITY IS DISSOLVINGDr. Teed Failed to Come to Lifeand Disaster Followed. All the Institutions founded by the late Dr. Cyrus R. Teed are fast tottering and it 19 said that within a short time Tampa will be the battling ground for a legal contest to close up the affairs of the Koreshan community at fistero, In Lee county, near Fort Myers. The large 9100,000 manufacturing plant of the Koreshan Unity, near Bristol, Tenn , will be sold at public auction by local creditors to satisfyclaims of 132,000 against it. This plantwas established about two years ago and wa9 in a flourishing condition until Dr. Teed, the founder, died last winter. The same state of affairs exist at Ee-tero. The people are in a bad way financially, the food is insufficient and many of the Koreshans are leaving the place. At Bristol Teed’s followers lost faithin his teachings when, after death, he did not make good. Dr. Teed taught that he was immortal and that within three days after life passed out of his physical body he would resurrect himself and thus demonstrate his power over the grave. Accordingly his body lay for three days at his home in Estero and wlfen for sanitary reasons the remains had to be taken from the home they were placed in a tomb and the door left unsealed, so in case he was a little shy on the scheduled time for his body to arise again it could be accomplished without too much exertion. As no Teed was seen perambulating about fn the vicinity for a week or so after h;s death the chief cornerstone of the faith was destroyed and the remnant of his Bristol following gave up their religion. Hence the stern hand of the sheriff came in to satisfy creditors. It is said that when Teed died he left by will his entire holdings to a board of directors composed of eight people. Two of these parties refused to act, claiming that. Teed did not gain access to the property for a money consideration but simply by hypnotizing his followers, who, on joining his communities. gave up all of their worldly possessions to Teed and then turned out in the field or shop to do his bidding and live an idealistic life with no worries with board and lodging furnished.Men and women flocked to Teed, hus-banes left wives and wives left husbands and went over to Teed’s teachings and lived a single life, not* even eating at the same mess hall together. The outcome will be watched with interest throughout the United States for Teed drew on all of America for his followers.
