Rose Winnichuk - 823-3115 Once again we have had visitors from the ancient past. Three Bordeniuk brothers called in on us. Crest Harry Galan flew in from Bellville, Ontario, brother Nick Bordeniuk from Stony Creek, Ontario and were met by brother George in Calgary, who drove them down here. They lived in the Flats area many years ago. For several years now Crest had been delving into the history of the local residents in hopes of compiling a book. Unfor tunately two years ago, his ef forts were interrupted when he had serious heart surgery. Now he wants to give it another try. He was intersted in his former neighbors the Ezelyks, Laura, Walter, Louis and Anne. Unfortunately Laura Worman is the sole sur vivor and she lives on 12 Street West. Then the other neigh bors were the Perhacs. Mrs. Perhac must be in her late 80’s still residing at 4 Street East and daughters Anne and Mary are in Calgary we believe. Crest was in the Air Force dur ing the war, while his two bud dies Philip Andrus and Maurice Stefaniuk were in the Navy. Philip passed away several years ago at a young age. Maurice lives in the same house on 12 Street and 2 Avenue West. Then across the track to what was oeg Street. There were the an skis. Bill is living a bachelor's life in Calgary and down by the Midland Bridge there was Vicki Zack (Kostyniuk) Nagy still in Calgary and the Nebogie family that had Vicki Michael, also in Calgary. Then down here Jake Jakowski, also in Calgary. Nick tells that he was too young to join the forces, so left for the east in 1942. George played guitar in the Joe Walushka band, later moving to Calgary. We keep in touch with our former neighbor Pauline Nelson now in town and she tells us that daughter Maxine came out from Kingston, On tario and they rented a car and drove down to Medicine Hat where the family had lived many long years ago. Eva Bachynski had visitors from Grande Prairie, her niece Jackie Hubick and niece Jody and Steve Premeau and children. Jamie, Sarah and the twins Kris and Kate. They en joyed visiting the scenic sights. Condolences to Olga Hort of East Coulee and families of Calgary on the passing of John Hort at the age of 84. John had been a member of the Associa tion of United Ukrainian Cana dians and the Workers Benevo lent Association in our com munity for many years. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Ot to and Gladys Weisner on the loss of their son.
