JOHN EM EH SON SHOT ATIN CONVICT HUNT.■ The roar of'shots in the vicinity of St. Quentin prison recently disturbed the people in the neighborhood of the California penitentiary, and, seeing a man in convict garb burry across the fields and into the woods, outsiders, armed and set out in pursuit. They were with difficulty dissuaded from continuing the hunt, even when they were assured it was all being .done for a motion : picture. These scenes were be--ing taken for use in the four part Mutual Masterpicture, “The Failure,’’“That’s what I get-for injecting realism into a picture,” said Director % W. Christy Cabanne after he had : quieted the villagers and saved John • / Emerson, the star of {.he production, from being shot down.“The Failure” will be shown at the Ideal Theater today, only.
