Dr. Brown, who worKea in a printing office when a boy, has converted many of his congregation and others to the value of advertising. He believes that the newspaper is the greatest and best medium to reach the masses and in proof of this he points to the crowds at his meetings at a season when many prefer to pass the weekend in camps and at the forest resor end in the camps and at lake and forest resorts.Starr Case Goes Up.The case of R. W. Starr vs. Long Jim, which has been twice in the superior court of Chelan county and twice in the state supreme court, has now gone to the United States supreme court. Mr. Starr received notice only a few days since that Chief Justice Rudkin of the supreme court of this state has allowed a writ of error in the case. This is quite significant from the fact that it wasv W * T *;Chief Justice Rudkin who wrote the opinion in the case adverse to Mr. | Starr. The effect of the writ of error, as we understand it. will be to take the case to the supreme court of the United States.It is the opinion of many of the best lawyers in the state that our supreme court will be reversed. Judge i Whitson of the United States dis-trict court at Spokane in a case in-I volving the same questions as are involved in the Long Jim case stated Jin a published opinion that he had j endeavored to hold with the Indians | but that he had been unable to do so.Mr. Starr was doing very much toward the improvement of the tract when he was stopped by the decision of our court and the growth of the town retarded.
