We learn that young Ellison, with two or three other young men, was at the house of a Mrs. Savage, who occupies a house in “Sandy-bottom”, so-called, a place somewhat notorious, when Milledgeville was the Capital, as the resort of women of ill fame.Few of our citizens, perhaps, knew that this place was now occupied by womenof that character, until this melancholy occurrence. While this party of young men were • ‘passing off the time ’, Tom Fair entered in a state of intoxication, and conceiving the idea that they had coma there “to raise a row” he “went for them-’ with the above result Oliver Ellison received several cuts, in the back, in the arm. and one in the groin—the latter proving fatal in about six hours In tho meantime, Ellison was not idle, and before receiving the fatal stab knocked Fair down with a stick.After receiving these wounds, Ellison made his escape, and succeeded in getting as far as the residence of Mrs. S. B. Brown, where he fell upon the side-walk from the loss of blood. His agonizing cries for help 6oon collected a crowd, and Drs. White and Case were summoned.—The unfortunate young man was taken to the office of Dr. Case, near by, where all that surgical skill could accomplish was done. After his wounds were dressed he was taken to his father's house, still attended by his physicians, (Dr.Hall among the Number,) where he died about 2 o’clock. He was conscious up to a few minutes before his death, and pleaded earnestly with his Maker for a little more of the Time he was so anxious to kill a few hours before. Oh! young men! take warning from the sad fate of this poor boy!Oliver Ellison, son of Mr. William Ellison, leaves a young wife, and many relatives to mourn his untimely death.— Thomas H. Fair is the eldest son of Col.Peter Fair, one of our oldest and most respected citizens. Col. Fair and family,(as well as the Ellison family,) receive from the community a heartfelt sympathy for the great trouble that has fallen on them.
