Foreign Miners’ Tax - -The Chinamen and other foreigner* are subjected to the grossest Imposition and extortion in some parts of the mine* I y villains who pretend to be collet tors of the Foreign Miner*’ Tax. Aside fioni the profits of the business, the imposU tion and outrage is looked upon as capital sport. If the poor Chinamen make opposition to the demands of the voluntary tax collectors, the “tax*’ is doubled, and they get flogged into the bargain.We can attest to the correctness of the above, and that nothing obstructs the real collector of the taxes more than the vi l*ins referred to.
