HALO BAER, 82, of Colorado Springs died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was a dry cleaning checker at Fort Carson for 22 years be fore retiring. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1305 N. Union Blvd. Bur ial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Miss Baer was born Sept. 19, 1906, in Colorado Springs, to William H. and Zella D. (Chaffee) Baer. She was a lifelong resident. Miss Baer had re ceived several work excellence awards from Fort Carson and was an honors student at Colorado Springs High School. She was a volunteer with the Community Service Center of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Miss Baer is survived by three nephews, Don of Homesdale, Pa., Wayne of Rowan, Mont., and Or ville of Longmont; and a niece, Phyllis Forget of Colorado Springs. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs 80909; or Silver Key Senior Services, 2250 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs 80904. JAMES JOSEPH MANELLA, 71, of Colorado Springs died Aug. 10 at a local nursing home. He was an engineer with Timken Roller Bearing and Western Forge before retiring in 1983. Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at First Congregational Church, Tejon and St. Vrain streets, with the Rev. James White officiat ing. Cremation has taken place. Private burial will be in Gilbert, Minn. Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St., is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Manella was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Elcor, Minn., to Joseph and Dora (DiStacio) Manella. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1948. Mr. Manella graduated from the University of Michi gan College of Engineering. He was a member of the El Paso Association and First Congregational Church. He was married Nov. 22, 1941, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Virginia Burbank, who survives. Mr. Manela also is survived by two brothers, Lawrence of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Peter Americas of Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. JEFFREY ALBERT BAUER, infant son of Donald and Anjanette (Lincoln) Bauer of Cripple Creek, died Thursday at a Colorado Springs hospi tal. He was born Aug. 10. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, Cripple Creek. Dove-Witt Fam ily Mortuary, 6630 S. U.S. Highway 85/87, Foun tain, is in charge of arrangements. The infant also is survived by his grandpar ents, Dick Bauer and Mike and Pat Lincoln, all of Cripple Creek, and Gail Bauer of Colorado Springs; great-grandparents, Wanda Bauer of Cripple Creek and Harry and Helen Scott of Canon City; and great-great-grandfather, Charles Stokes of Arkansas. She was a homemaker. A Mass of the Christian burial will be cele brated by the Rev. Prohens at 10 a.m. today at St. Cajetan’s Catholic Church, 299 S. Stuart, Denver. Services conclude at the church. Trujillo Funeral Home, 4036 Morrison Road, Denver, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Trujillo was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Tercio, to Serafin and Julianna Sandoval. She is survived by her husband, Paul; five sons, Leo, Ray, Michael, Joseph and Timothy; five daughters, Marie Dakan, Lucille Buswell, Barbara Roybal, Paulie Phillips and Julie; 26 grandchil dren; and 20 great-grandchildren. ALBA, 55, of Colorado Springs died Wednesday at a local hospital. He worked in civil service before retiring and was the former owner-operator of Z P Janitorial Service. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Satur day and Sunday at Evergreen Funeral Home, Fountain and Union boulevards. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Justin Alfred officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Alba was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Holly, to Guadalupe and Anna (Sebrint) Alba. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1965 and was a former resident of Lamar. Mr. Albas served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1957 and attained the rank of sergeant. He was married Dec. 29, 1952, in Raton, N.M., to Dolores Morales, who survives. Mr. Alba also is survived by two daughters, An gela Ledesma and Elizabeth Lindau, both of Colo rado Springs; three brothers, Charles and John, both of Lamar, and George of Great Bend, Kan; three sisters, Josephine Adame of Las Animas, Susie Anderson of Osage, Kan., and Ginger of Lamar; and a grandchild. He was a welder at Aircraft Mechanics for 39 years. Graveside services were conducted Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1001 S. Hancock Ave., with the Rev. Ora Burdue officiating. Mr. Claus was a member of Rosewell Community Church. He was married in 1936, in Colorado Springs, to Nina Fitts, who preceded him in death. Mr. Claus is survived by a son, Norman of San Jose, Calif., and two grandchildren. FRANCES R. MONTOYA, 87, of Fountain died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was a homemaker. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the fu neral home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Fountain, 101 N. Main St., Fountain, with the Rev. G. James Brady officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Fountain. Mrs. Montoya was born Jan. 18, 1902, in Max well, N.M., to Louis and Caustila (Mestas) Romero. She had lived in Fountain 34 years. She was married in April 1919, in Trinidad, to Felix Montoya Sr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Montoya is survived by two sons, Benja min of Fountain and Felix J. of Black Forest; four daughters, Christine Jacques, Isabelle Clevenger and Barbara Nichols, all of Fountain, and Chris tella Croom of Widefield; a brother, Chris Romero of San Jose, Calif.; 32 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Lionel E.; a daughter Trisa Gonzales; four brothers; and three sisters. JOSEPH A. VEVERKA, 76, of Colorado Springs died Wednesday at his daughter's home in Parker. He worked for White Truck Manufactur ing in Cleveland, before retiring. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sun day at Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home, 407 Jerry St., Castle Rock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ave Maria Catholic Church, 9056 E. Parker Road, Parker, with the Rev. Dennis E. Dwyer officiating. Burial will be at Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth. Mr. Veverka was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Cleve land, to John and Louise (Cynda) Veverka. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1976. Mr. Veverka attended Case Western Reserve University, Cleve land. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a crew chief pilot on B-17s and B-24s. Mr. Veverka was a member of Holy Apos tles Catholic Church. He was married June 26, 1944, to Wanda Esca vage, who survives. Mr. Veverka also is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Edwards of Parker, and two grandchildren. JAMES MONROE ‘‘MON”’ BOGGS, 89, of Colorado Springs died Thursday at his home. He was a pipeline superintendent with Colorado In terstate Gas Co. for 37% years before retiring. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ever green Funeral Home, Fountain and Union boule vards. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1001 S. Hancock Ave., with the Rev. Joe Cham bers officiating. Mr. Boggs was born Jan. 13, 1900, in Perkins, W. Va., to Michael Jackson and Cora May (Moore) Boggs. He had lived in Coloradoe since 1928 and was a former resident of West Virginia and Virginia. Mr. Boggs attended the Fork Union Military Academy, Fork Union, Va., and Massey Business College, Richmond, Va. Mr. Boggs was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Shrine. He was married Jan. 30, 1948, in Colorado Springs, to Ruth Moore, who survives. Mr. Moore also is survived by two sons, Robert M. of Littleton and James P. of San Leandro, Calif.; two daughters, Leslie Wieman of Simla and Dorothy Chadwick of Orange, Calif.; 11 grandchil dren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to a char ity of the giver’s choice. JACQUELINE M. LAYMAN, 67, of Monu ment died Thursday at a local hospital. She was a Realtor with Walker Company before retiring this past year. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 18320 Furrow Road, Monument. Cremation is planned. Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave., is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Layman was born March 22, 1922, in Wichita, Kan., to Edward and Ruth (Ketchum) Meyer. She had lived in Colorado Springs since 1968. Mrs. Layman received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was married May 11, 1946, in Topeka, Kan., to Arch H. Layman, who survives. Mrs. Layman also is survived by a son, Air Force Lt.. Col. Arch Layman Jr., who is stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; two daughters, Leslie Lorenz of Washington, D.C., and Lindsay Clewe of Fort Lewis, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
