MAN DIES OF SMOKEA Sioux City man, Isaac Red Owl, 50, was dead on arrival at a Siowc City hospital, after firemen found him while answering a fire alarm early Saturday.Firemen said that a mattress had caught fire and it was be-i heved the victim had beensmoking in bed.The fire, at 217 Kansas St., caused an estimated $70 damage in Apartment Eight where Mr. Red Owl was living.Dr. Thomas Concien, Woodbury medical examiner, attributed the cause of death to suffocation from smoke inhalation.Mr. Red Owl was born on Oct. 29, 1913, at Santee, Neb. He; served with the Army during World War 1! and moved to Sioux City 12 years ago.Survivors include five sons, George, Dennis, Clifford, Kenneth and Gary, all of South Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs.Edward Rouilard, S:oux City,and Miss Lydia Red Owl, South Sioux City; two brothers, Ara-rose and John, both of Omaha, lt;and two sisters, Mrs. Max La-! Mere of Omaha, and Mrs. Demise Whipple of St. Paul. Minn.The body is being sent from, the Rutledge Funeral Home to Bloomfield, Neb., for burial.
