The Valley Line is completing in Albert a new freight yard immedi ately west of the Big Four crossing on Jackson street, with a capacity for handling forty cars. The new termin al freight yard is necessary to handle shipments of marl and gravel and oth er taiload freight which the Waller Line is transporting from various gravel pits and mail beds alongsts line. Steare locomotives are now used by the company as far west as Bris tol and electric motors between Bris tol and Elkhart. The new yards consist of two Unloading tracks with a depressed team track between them sn that freight can be unloaded from cars directly into wagons or trucks. There will also be a wagon track at the same level as the rails. The gravel is moving from Lake George, the United Gravel company having erected a laree gravel plant on holdings of 93 acres, and the plant has a loading capacity of ten cars per day. Rich marl deposits are being worked at the same company at Casslake and Lake Gage This marl is especially valuable as a fertilizer, and has been found in large quantities. Tests by the state chemist show that this marl is 90 per cent, limestone. The Valley Line is making low freight rates on marl and limestone so that the farmers will find it profitable to use this material for fertilizing pur poses. Already gravel is being delivered at Tivantol and Elkhart for use on road worl. The Valley Line also was to be made clear that the word adlur company has been dropped from the name of the Valley, Ling, inas touch as electricity is no longer used in the operation of the Mad. The Northern Indiana railroad is operating electric motor cars between Bristol and Qtk jurt under an opérating agreement with the Valley Ling, and the Valley né was taken over the St. Joseph Valley Traction company east of Gris-
