One night last week an attempt was made to blow up the residence of Gideon Bailey of Goshen by putting powder in sticks of wood, and throwing them on his woodpile. Some of the charges were large enough to have wrecked a house. An explosion occurred, but fortunately the charge was light, and only the stove was wrecked. The officers have a theory as to the identity of the eriminial, and it is to be hoped that he will be brought to justice.
