In 1982, Fort Concho formed its First reenactment group - its Infantry unit. The members portray foot soldiers of Company F of the Sixteenth U.S. Infantry that served at the fort in the early 1880s. The Fort Concho Cavalry unit was established in 1984 and represents Company D of the Fourth U.S. Cavalry. The original Company D was at Fort Concho in the early 1870s. The Buffalo Soldiers group wasj-j AwZ u ■■ a_m^nU.S/ Cavalry. Presently this unit is dismounted. In 1989, Fort Concho initiated anartillery unit, and in 1990 a laundress group came intoexistence.Fort Concho has an active volunteer core of 50 members with a reserve core of approximately 25. The groups perform at 50 to 55 events
