Vera Mae ScalbergVera M. Scalberg (85) a longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passedaway on August 10,2016, in Pensacola, FL.Vera Scalberg was bom on May 22,1931 She was raised in the Florida Panhandle area and graduated from Niceville High School, Niceville,FL Upon graduation, she began working in a small cafe outside Eglin AFB where she met her Army Air Corps husband, Willard “Bill Scalberg. Bill and Vera were married on July 6,1949. They moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL, and raised their two children. Vera held multiple positions within the Okaloosa County School District and retired in 1993,Competitive and social in spirit, Vera started bowling as a hobby and played in many tournaments across theUnited States. She waselected the Women’s International Bowling Congress President for the state of Florida, Vera also loved ballroom dancing and competed and won many trophies with Fred Astaire Dance Studios, Fort Walton Beach, FL. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and was very much committed to GodVera is preceded in death by her husband, Willard “Bill” Scalberg; her daughter, Sharon Miller;VERA M. SCALBERGher parents, Thomas and Maggie Wolfe; and her brothers, James and Howard Wolfe.Vera is survived by her son, Russell Scalberg and his wife Kimberly Scalbergof Pace, FL; her brother Bernard Wolfe of Baytown, TX; her grandchildren,Kelly Miller, Kyle Miller and Joseph Scalberg and her 3 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held at McLaughlin Mortuary,17 Chestnut Avenue S.E., Fort Walton Beach, FL on August 20,2016 from 1-2 p.m. Ftmeral services will follow immediately aftervisitation with Pastor Tim Wright officiating.
