By John lon ANGLETON — A former Surfside Beach business owner whose body was found near the surf last week was killed by “blunt head trauma,” Justice of the Peace Act. 1 Jack Brown said Monday. George Smith, 53, was found at 7:15 a.m. Aug. 7 lying face-up on the beach just north of the San Luis Beach subdivi sion near Access Road 3, about $ miles east of the Surfside bridge. No arrests have been made in the case, but authori ties suspect foul play and no “interviewing multiple people,” District Attorney Jeri Yenne said. Galveston County Medical Examiner Dr. Steven Pustilnik’s office could release no information, a spokeswoman said. W See DEATH, Page 2A
