Mr. Thompson is one and of the early pioneers of this State, and mis- has perhaps done as much mining as hod any man that ever lived within its bord-few ers. In the early '50's he worked with with and for John W. Mackay, and finds it a ig 7 great source of pleasure to now talk of the pleasant events of those distant times. He followed miuiug almost steadily up to a few years ago when be traded hiB mining property for a ranch inArizona and is now actively engaged in farming.Ono day Inst week Mr. Thompson was induced to visit the scene of copper finds on Red Mountain. He made a thorough inspection of the surroundings out t(iere, examined the ore very carefully, and came back firm in the opinion that the locality is plentifully ladeued with copper that will compare favorably in quality to that turned out at the famous Globe mines. Such an opinion from ouch anauthority is certainly of value, and it is but natural that the Red Mountain company should feel elated over Mr. Thompson’s declaration. The gentleman took away with him several samples of the ore, and before leaving encouraged the his company to proceed to the development lly uf their property.
