Birthday Anniversary. ;|j Ovt the evening of August 5th Mr. ': and Mrs. Waiter K. Saltzman enter- ; tained a number of their many friends ' at the o!d Saltzman homestead in I Lynn township, it being the 18th birthday of their daughter, Miss Cecil and nearing the eighty-second of Grand- ! mother Saltzman j |The large old farm house furnished an excellent background for the extensive lawn. The latter was beautifully festooned with Japanese lanterns which, siDCe they could be seen quite a distance down the pike, were a great help to the guests from the neighbor-mg towns in finding their way. The vacillating light made by the numerous rows of lanterns made die company seem a horde of phantoms as they Hit- J t;d among the shadows and light rays.Numerous games were played dur- , ing tho evening and the two large ^ chain swings beneath the spreading I Locust at the front of the lawn fur-j nished much amusement during the evening and were in constant use. The | bean contt-st was very interesting to j every one. The prizes were won by j Miss May Uobby and Mr. Ei/.ie Lee. , An artistic color scheme of pink and 5 white was used very effectively. The j large table, spread with a snowy cloth | at one end of the long porch was dec- j orated with pink and white roses vari- j egaled with other (lowers. Miss Cecil j made a very fetching picture clad in j a pink silk gown with touches of white | lace, and dainty white slippers. !A delicious repast ol ices and cake was served. Talk about your “eats1', Mercy I we had them, it fairly made you hungry to walk through the pantry and see the stacks and stacks of cakes, those freezers of creaut and pails of lemonade in preparation. There were cakes of all kinds, pure white ones, pink ones, white with pink lilting and pink with white tilling. Fun? yes, we had it and a great deal, even Grandmother Saltzman had a pleasant evening, and I'll wager that not once even did she sigh for the good times and frolics of her girlhood days during the entire evening.
