D., last Friday, to which place he had gone seeking medical aid for cancer that had been troubling him for some time. Several months ago he had an operation performed at Rochester but never gained very much in health.The deceased was born in Racine, Wis., Jan. 28, 1 854, and when a little boy came to this county with his parents, settling at Locust. He was married here a number of years ago to Miss Kate Weiland and went west to live, making their home for some time at Alexander, S. D., and for a number of years past have been residents of Chadron, Neb., where he was one of the prominent business men, owning a large brick yard there, and other interests. Mr. Broghammer was a man possessed of a large heart and strong character, and of a t genial disposition which readily made him friends, and they were legiomHe leaves to mourn his loss the bereaved widow and four children, besides his mother, four brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Simon Brogham-mer and Mrs. Elizabeth Oehler, of Decorah, John, Charles and Michael of this county and Frank of Cuba; Mrs. Geo.
